FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT TYPES OF BOOKS DO YOU LIKE TO READ?

Both Paul and myself are avid readers. Paul tends to pick up action/adventure series. He particularly likes Don Pendleton’s Stony Man, The Executioner and Mack Bolan series.

I read a wide range of fiction. Books that I have read and passed along this year, or have been passed along to me that I liked enough to tell everybody about were:

Sophie Kinsella-Can You Keep A Secret?

Anita Diamant-The Red Tent

Fannie Flagg-A Redbird Christmas

Debbie Macomber-The Shop on Blossom Street

DO YOU READ BIOGRAPHIES?

Yes, I find the story of people’s lives fascinating. I’ve recently read the following:

Andrew Morton-Diana, In Pursuit of Love

Hillary Rodham Clinton-Living History

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR STORY IDEAS?

Ideas are all around us. I was inspired to write “Olivia’s Mine” after visiting the BC Museum of Mining at Britannia Beach, British Columbia and taking the tour. I had driven past the town and the mine site numerous times on my way up to Whistler but had absolutely no idea about the history of the area. Now I do.

WHO DESIGNED YOUR WEB-SITE?

My ever evolving web-site was designed by the talented team of Blair and Dave at Fairfax Creative. You can reach them at www.fairfaxcreative.com.

WHO IS YOUR PUBLICIST?

Debbie Walker, President, Translucent Film and Video Services and her crew handle my needs. Visit www.translucentpr.com, and click under clientele. Click a lot. Debbie has "hits"contests and just once I'd like to win one.

IS THAT YOUR HORSE ON THE HOME PAGE?

I wish!

IS THAT A PAINTING ON THE COVER OF OLIVIA’S MINE?

Yes. The illustration was done by talented Canadian artist Millie LaBelle, who lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I have known Millie for years and she was kind enough to use her talent to capture the feel of the area from photos I had taken.

Millie LaBelle lives and works in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  She began her career as an educator, then moved into broadcasting for many years.

As an artist, she's very new on the scene! She began in 2003, by creating an original watercolour to print as a personal Christmas card.  Her first series of paintings, called "Islet Ways", followed in 2004.  The 10 watercolours depict the location and lifestyle of Silver Islet, Ontario- once the site of the richest silver mine in the world.
You can contact the artist at mx3@shaw.ca for a sample of these works.  A web-site will be launched later this year.
