OLIVIA’S MINE

It’s 1915, and newlywed Olivia Fitzpatrick is leaving her affluent Seattle family to join her husband Frank in a foreign country, Canada, at the isolated mining community of Britannia Beach. Before she even has a chance to settle in, many of the people she meets upon arrival are killed in a horrific natural disaster, triggering the first of a series of events about to befall the young Olivia, and the tightly knit community.

A multicultural group of people are waiting to meet you, including the fiery red-headed Lucy Bentall; Captain Frenchie Cates; Akiko, Harry and Jimmy Yada; Officer Wolanski, man-crazy Sarah Leiboldt; and the formidable J.W. McMichael.

Landslides, fires, flu epidemics and even WWI were not enough to send the young bride packing. But the two men claiming that “Olivia’s mine” might be enough to do it!

Janine McCaw’s novel “OLIVIA’S MINE” is available online at www.chapters.ca

I started to read it last night, and just finished it this morning!  I couldn’t put it down, even cried at certain points … you’re very good. I can’t wait for the next novel.- DB

I couldn't put it down because of the fabulous story that it is...Please keep the stories coming.  I have several shelves to fill.- KB

Wow - I became quickly interested in the characters you had created, I just kept reading on. You really kept their story interesting with all the situations they encountered. It was great to want to keep reading on to see what happened next. I was particularly touched by the chapter where Akiko made the curtains for Sarah, and how their relationship developed. - AS

PUMPER

It's an ordinary day for Sam Wakeman. His ex-wife is making him miserable and straining his relationship with his daughter. Cutbacks at the municipal level mean cutbacks at the fire hall, jeopardizing his job as a firefighter. He's lonely. He's overworked. He's feeling that his life is going nowhere.

All that changes forever when the firefighters from Pumper Station 51 respond to a 911 call of a house fire. Ty Martin, a local sensationalistic reporter who happens to be dating Sam's ex, arrives on the scene with his photographer, who takes a shot of the soot-covered firefighter, indistinguishable under his gear, and the terrified look of the little girl whom he has just taken from inside the inferno.

The photo is picked up by Reuters, and the entire world wants to meet the man behind the image. As the story unfolds, the media learn that the little girl was "home alone" at the time of the fire. Where was her mother, and what could ever possess her to leave the child unattended? As the National Enquirer and the six o’clock news come to the sleepy little town of Horseshoe Bay, Sam finds himself developing an un-professional bond with the little girl, and, against the wishes of his Captain, the experienced Capt. Devine, Sam embarks on a crusade to find the missing parent.

THE CLUB AT THE END OF THE STREET

There’s something going on at the old McCormack place, Janna just knew it.

Granted it had been a tough few years. Her husband Dave was killed leaving her with three young boys and Jackie, her live-in mother-in-law. Without the help of her childhood friend Pastor Sasha, she probably would not have made it through the first six-months.

The distraction of the comings and goings at the house at the end of the cul-de-sac were a welcome break from the turmoil of a house with three kids under ten.  One by one the women of the neighbourhood had all rushed over to meet the handsome Stephano DiBortolli. The man with the Porsche in the driveway. Go figure.

But what the heck is going on? They’ve been coming out of his house with big smiles on their faces. All of them! Sometimes together! It’s enough to drive Janna crazy. That and the fact her mother -in-law is running around like some silly teenager in love.  It couldn’t be, could it? And who is that coming out his door now?

The Club at the End of the Street will keep you laughing and guessing and praying for all of them!

A little FIRST DEGREE

On a hot summer night in Klamath Falls Oregon, a storm is brewing.
